joshua trees and old man snow

we went to st. george this weekend... it was hot but nice to get out and relax. we went on a drive to the 'joshua tree forest'-- only to find that a vast majority of it was burned to a crisp. It was too hot to take too many pictures, but this one stood alone and I liked it. We also stopped by a creepy graveyard on the way home, I don't know why old graveyards are so fascinating.

Allison! I love old graveyards/cemeteries too. I think we are kindred spirits. We should go scout some out together sometime. I would love it.

And also, love the photo of the Joshua Tree.

one of the creepiest graveyards i've been to is in the city of Virgin.. outside of Zion.. forget about digging a 6 ft hole.. they use the small mound method instead! check it out if you dare.. this graveyard allie posted was pretty similar but in the middle of nowhere, so even worse.

when we got out of the car to snoop around allie got scared and wanted me to stay with violet in the car while she took pictures.. so i was playing with violet for a few minutes and when i looked back to say something to allie, she was gone! i kinda got chills as my eyes shifted from side to side looking for any sign of her..

finally i spotted her crouching behind a tombstone taking a picture.. i thought it would be a make a good movie if I went back to find her but she was gone and in her place was a tombstone with her name on it. Who wants to make this movie with me?

That's hilarious! (Davo's comment.) I bet Oldman Snow was sure glad you visited.

spooky... I like your imagination Davo, always thinking of the scariest possible situation (my brain always does that)

the tombstone photo was worth risking your life for Allison...

Davo/Allison: This sounds like a recipe for F-U-N. And Halloween is just around the corner!

Who's coming with me? To the next scary graveyard, I mean. There's a good one on the way to Lacey's cabin, just outside Peoa.

And who has a video camera?

I don't know how serious you all are about visiting creepy graveyards but I know of one that's the creepiest. It's past Eureka, Utah on the short road 36 - lower left corner of the map here:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=eureka,+utah&ie=UTF8&ll=40.050745,-111.923904&spn=0.3674,0.6427&z=11&om=1

Anyway, you drive along this road and look at the barbed wire fence on the west side of the road. There will be an old rag tied to the top row of barbed wire. Park there, jump the fence and start walking directly into the wooded cedars. You might have to wander a little bit but approx. 100 yards off the road you'll see a stone wall that's about 3 feet high with rought-iron on top. The wall encircles an old graveyard with some very old graves. There's a gate at one point on the wall but it's kind of creepy because it's set up so that only 1 person can walk through at a time (hard to explain, but you'll see).

I thought this was total BS when I heard about it but some friends and I were bored one night and decided to go try it out. I'm telling you when I saw that old rag tied to the fence a wave of chills ran down my spine. Sure enough it was all true and you won't be dissappointed. I'd recommend going at night with a group of friends.

I think the story was that there was a school bus accident somewhere in the area and that's where lots of the kids are buried. I don't know how true that all is, but it's at least good for the effect.
